There are different sources of funding for education and training. Some schemes give you a training allowance and others allow you to keep your social welfare payment when you are doing certain education courses.
The Back to Education Allowance scheme helps people who are unemployed, are getting a One-Parent Family Payment or have a disability, to attend approved second-or third-level education courses.
